Lincoln and the Bible On Sept 7, 1864 a Holy Bible was given to Lincoln from a delegation of Black Americans. Lincoln said, "In regard to this great book, I have but to say, it is the best gift God has given to man. All the good from The Savior of the world is communicated through this Book.
